Anna Ziegler's play about two marriages plays Off-Broadway at Roundabout.

Starring Katie Holmes, Roundabout Theatre Company's Off-Broadway production of The Wanderers officially opens Febuary 16 at the Laura Pels Theatre after beginning previews January 26. The already extended run will continue through April 2.

The Anna Ziegler play follows newlyweds Esther and Schmuli, who are Orthodox Jews, and Abe, a Secular Jew and famous novelist who believes he can write his own future. But when Abe receives an unexpected email from movie star Julia Cheever, his marriage is put to the test.

Holmes makes her Roundabout debut as Julia Cheever, joined in the cast by Sarah Cooper as Sophie, Lucy Freyer as Esther, Dave Klasko as Schmuli, and Eddie Kaye Thomas as Abe.

The production features sets by Marion Williams, costumes by David Israel Reynoso, lighting by Kenneth Posner, and sound and original music by Jane Shaw. Barry Edelstein directs.

Holmes made her Broadway debut in the 2008 revival of Arthur Miller's All My Sons and returned to the Main Stem in 2012 for Theresa Rebeck's Dead Accounts. Her television career launched with the teen drama Dawson's Creek, on which she appeared for six seasons. Holmes' film credits include The Ice Storm, Pieces of April, and, most recently, Rare Objects with her own production company Lafayette Pictures.

Ziegler made her Roundabout premiere in 2017 with her play The Last Match, directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch.
