Paula Cizmar’s January, directed by Lorca Peress, will premiere Off-Broadway early next year as a part of The Femme Collective's four-week residency at The Theatre at the 14th Street Y.
Presented by Multistages Theatre Inc, the play will run January 11-February 1, 2025.
Set in the aftermath of an unimaginable tragedy—a child shooting another child at school—two mothers struggle with sainthood and demonization in the glare of the national spotlight.
The Off-Broadway production will star Alinca Hamilton as Lauren and Darlenis Duran as Maya, with Veronica Cruz, Jed Peterson, and Matt Walting.
January will feature projection design by Obie winner Jan Hartley, sound design by Sun Hee Kil, scenic and prop design by Jennifer Varbalow, lighting design by Kia Rogers, and costume design by Lisa Renee Jordan. The production will be choreographed by Jennifer Chin and associate-produced by Gena Bardwell.
