Anna Ziegler's new play The Wanderers began previews January 26 Off-Broadway at Roundabout Theatre Company's Laura Pels Theatre starring television star and Broadway veteran Katie Holmes. The show opens February 16 for a run, recently extended, through April 2.
The play follows newlyweds Esther and Schmuli, who are Orthodox Jews, and Abe, a Secular Jew and famous novelist who believes he can write his own future. But when Abe receives an unexpected email from movie star Julia Cheever, his marriage is put to the test.
Holmes makes her Roundabout debut as Julia Cheever, joined in the cast by Sarah Cooper as Sophie, Lucy Freyer as Esther, Dave Klasko as Schmuli, and Eddie Kaye Thomas as Abe.

The production features sets by Marion Williams, costumes by David Israel Reynoso, lighting by Kenneth Posner, and sound and original music by Jane Shaw. Barry Edelstein directs.
