New work Red Eyes by Michael León (The Cubans) has announced the cast for its December 12 staged reading. Set to play Theatre 71, the show will also be available for live streaming.

Broadway alum Reynaldo Piniella (Trouble in Mind) will lead the cast, which also will feature Zuleyma Guevara (La Ruta), Camila Pérez Santiago (Carla’s Quince), Nate Betancourt (Drunk Shakespeare), and Maribel Martinez (Julius Caesar).

Red Eyes follows Carlos, a man "whose sexual desires come with terrifying results—the visions of a haunting Red-Eyed figure." Following an argument with his fiancé (and their wedding's subsequently being put on hold), Carlos has to confront his behavior. Via a journey through repressed memories, he faces the toxic masculinity, trauma, and crushing grief which have plagued him since childhood.

Jorge Donoso (At the Wedding) directs the reading, presented by Out of the Box Theatrics and Jennifer Campos Productions. The Off-Broadway not-for-profit organization and the production company are both committed to presenting diverse and inclusive theatre productions which uplift the voices and stories of people from marginalized communities.
