Streaming The Theatre-Lover's Guide to What's Streaming in February

Go interstellar this month with two animated series set in space.

Why watch one animated series set in space when you can watch two? February is giving Season 2 of Marvel's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, centering the franchises first Black teenage superhero, and The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy, starring stage-actors-turned-screen-stars Stephanie Hsu and Keke Palmer

Honestly, this is not a big month for new streaming titles. We may be feeling the effects of the summer writer's strike now. (Even more reason to go buy a ticket for one of the many great shows on Broadway and Off-Broadway this spring!)

Here are just a few of our streaming recommendations:

Disney+

The second season of Marvel's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur drops on the streamer February 3 following its premiere on the Disney Channel. The series follows the adventures of 13-year-old super-genius Lunella Lafayette and her 10-ton T-Rex Devil Dinosaur, which she accidentally brings into present-day New York City. The animated series stars Diamond White as Lunella, Marvel's first Black teen superhero, and Fred Tatasciore as Devil Dinosaur, with a bevy of Broadway talents voicing guest roles. Listen up for Ann Harada, Cynthia Erivo, and Alex Newell, as well as Parker Posey, David Tennant, Giancarlo Esposito, Carol Kane, and more. (And here's a sneak peek at Ephraim Syke's upcoming episode, where he stars as pop-star heartthrob Bobby the Myth.)

Hulu

The second installment of Ryan Murphy's Feud anthology hits Hulu February 1. Set amidst mid-20th century society in New York, Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans looks at the friendship-turned-feud between author Truman Capote and the clique of New York’s richest, most glamorous women, whom he nicknamed “the swans.” Capote exposed their most intimate secrets—drug use, extramarital affairs, and even murder—in an excerpt of his final work "Answered Prayers," published in Esquire magazine, resulting in his shunning from society. Tom Hollander stars as Capote with his flock of swans including Naomi Watts, Diane Lane, Molly Ringwald, Demi Moore, Chloë Sevigny, and Calista Flockhart.

Life & Beth, starring Amy Schumer and Michael Cera is back for Season 2. In the second season, their relationship grows more serious as Beth starts to think about marriage and family while still reconciling the traumas of her past relationships with men. The cast also includes Tony winner Laura Benanti and Sas Goldberg, along with  Susannah Flood, Violet Young, Michael Rapaport, and more. Stream it February 16.

Netflix

Film awards season continues with the 30th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, streaming live for the first time on Netflix February 24. This season's usual suspects will all be there vying for awards. The musical adaptation of The Color Purple is nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture and Danielle Brooks is nominated for Female Actor in a Supporting Role. Bradley Cooper, Carey Mulligan, Colman Domingo, Jeffrey Wright, Emma Stone, and Da'Vine Joy Randolph are also among the nominated actors. Prime Video

Stephanie Hsu (Be More Chill) and Keke Palmer (Cinderella) star as Dr. Sleech and Dr. Slak, two intergalactically-renowned surgeons fighting off oblivion in the new adult animated series The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy. The series is created by Cirocco Dunlap, and also stars Kieran Culkin, Sam Smith, Maya Rudolph, Natasha Lyonne. Stream it beginning February 23.
