Roundabout has announced the cast for its Off-Broadway production of ...what the end will be by Mansa Ra, which begins previews May 12 at the Laura Pels Theater in the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre. The show will officially open June 2 and run through July 10.
Starring will be Emerson Brooks (The Last Ship) as Maxwell Kennedy, Gerald Caesar (Tina: The Tina Turner Musical) as Tony Kennedy, Randy Harrison (Atomic A New Musical) as Charles, Keith Randolph Smith (Jitney) as Bartholomew Kennedy, Ryan Jamaal Swain (Pose) as Antoine, and Tiffany Villarin (Do You Feel Anger?) as Chloe.
...what the end will be follows three generations of men who live together as they handle and come to terms with what it means to each of them to be Black and gay. By exploring the relationships and perspectives of fathers and sons, the play explores themes of pride, pain, and patience.
The creative team will include set designer Reid Thompson, costume designer Emilio Sosa, lighting designer Jiyoun Chang, and sound designer Palmer Hefferan.
Ra and Bordelon made their Underground debut in 2017 with Too Heavy for Your Pocket. As part of Ra's Underground commitment, ...what the end will be was commissioned and has been in development since 2017.
