Off-Broadway News Tracy Thorne's Jack Was Kind to Make World Stage Premiere at Irish Rep

The Off-Broadway theatre has also announced the return of A Child's Christmas in Wales adapted and directed by Charlotte Moore.

Irish Repertory Theatre has announced its 2022 season will be rounded out by Tracy Thorne's Jack Was Kind in its first staged production, and a return production of Dylan Thomas' A Child's Christmas in Wales.

Written and performed by Thorne (We Are Here), Jack Was Kind explores complicity in power structures through an intimate confessional solo play. It originally debuted virtually in 2020, and will take the W. Scott McLucas Studio Stage for previews of its first in-person staged production November 9. Opening night for the limited run, to be directed by Nicholas A. Cotz (My Name is Gideon), is set for November 17 with performances set through December 18.

Serving on the creative team for will be scenic designer David Esler (rogerandtom), costume designer Haydee Zelideth (House Plant), lighting designer Kate McGee (I'm Revolting), and production stage manager Michael Palmer (Made by God).

Also joining the season it the return of A Child's Christmas in Wales for its sixth run at Irish Rep, again directed by Charlotte Moore. John Bell (Into the WoodsMeet Me in St. Louis) will serve as musical director for Moore's musical adaptation of Thomas' work, which includes traditional and contemporary Christmas music. Performances on the Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage will begin December 1 and run through December 31. Opening night is set for December 8. Casting and creative team will be announced at a later date.

Irish Rep is currently preparing to welcome the New York premiere of Emmy winner Joseph Dougherty's Chester Bailey, starring Tony winner Reed Birney and Ephraim Birney. Previews begin October 12.
