The New York premiere of Islander completes its run at Off-Broadway's recently reopened Playhouse 46 at St. Luke's June 13. The new musical began previews April 14 and officially opened April 21.
The musical, starring the show's original cast members Olivier nominee Kirsty Findlay and Bethany Tennick, follows a teenage girl who dreams of life past the shores of her small, struggling Scottish island. But, as a mysterious strangers washes up with the tide, she must face the things she's been hiding from as she finds her way forward.
Islander transferred to Off-Broadway following a successful debut at Edinburgh Fringe in 2019 where it won Best New Musical. Findlay and Tennick create the Scottish folk-inspired score live in full with looping technology each performance. Reviews can be read here.
