Off-Broadway News Brian Parks' The Golfer to Play 59E59

The comedy is set to play Edinburgh Fringe Festival later this summer.

Brian ParksThe Golfer is set to play Off-Broadway's 59E59 ahead of a transfer to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The production will play New York for a strictly limited run at 59E59 from July 24 to July 28.

The comedy follows an everyman who is thrust into a world of mystery, animated objects, Chaucer's Wife of Bath, and more when a round of workday hooky to play golf dissolves into a fantastical adventure. The work premiered at the Brick Theater in 2016, where it won five New York Innovative Theatre Awards.

The production will be directed by frequent Parks collaborator Margarett Perry. The pair have developed the production for many years, as have many of the company, which includes Matthew Boston, Brian Dykstra, Patrick Frederic, Vince Gatton, Lori Prince, and Alex Sunderhaus. The ensemble of six will play nearly 60 characters throughout the evening.

The creative team will consist of production designer Tom Kitney, composer and sound designer Julian Crocamo, costume designer Dan Lawson, production stage manager Alex Ridley, and associate director and producer Natalie Tell. The production is presented by Twilight Theatre Company.

Parks, a veteran of the international Festival, has previously won two Fringe Firsts and the Best Writing Award for his efforts across the pond.
