National Asian American Theatre Company presents its inaugural production for its National Partnership Project, Madhuri Shekar's Queen, at A.R.T./New York's Mezzanine Theatre June 10-July 1. The production transfers from New Haven, Connecticut's Long Wharf Theatre, where it completed its regional run June 5.

Starring in the cast are Stephanie Janssen (Death of a Salesman, Mrs. Warren's Profession), Ben Livingston (Mamma Mia!, One Man Two Guvnors), Keshav Moodliar (Native Son), and Avanthika Srinivasan in her Off-Broadway debut.

Queen follows Sanam and Ariel, two PhD. candidates, who study vanishing bee populations. Upon finding a mistake in their career-making paper, they are faced with making decisions that could change everything.

Aneesha Kudtarkar directs the production, which features scenic design by Junghhyun Georgia Lee, costume design by Phuong Nguyen with assistant costume designer Kyle Artone, and lighting design by Yuki Nakase Link with assistant lighting designer Jackie Fox. Sound design and original music is by Daniela Hart, Bailey Trierweiler, and Noel Nichols of UptownWorks.

NNPP is a new initiative from NAATCO that works with theatres nationwide to develop, improve, and implement local strategies including Asian-American theatre artists, technicians, and administrators. In partnership with Soho Rep, the initiative's next project is scheduled for early 2023, followed by a new adaptation of Romeo and Juliet by Hansol Jung (Wolf Play, Wild Goose Dreams, Cardboard Piano) at Two River Theater in New Jersey.
