Cheyenne Jackson returns to the Broadway stage July 24, stepping into the roles of The Wolf and Cinderella's Prince in the New York City Center Encores! production of Into the Woods at the St. James Theatre, filling in for Gavin Creel through August 2.
Jackson previously played the roles in the 2019 Hollywood Bowl production, but has not been seen on a Broadway stage since his appearance in the short-lived 2012 play The Performers. Creel will be in residence at The O’Neill National Musical Theatre Conference performing his theatrical concert Walk on Through: Confessions of a Museum Novice during his absence.
Into the Woods is directed by
Lear deBessonet, with music direction by Rob Berman with The Encores! Orchestra,
and choreography by Lorin Latarro. It features an all-star cast including Sara Bareilles, Brian d'Arcy James, Patina Miller, Phillipa Soo, Joshua Henry, and Creel, along with Julia Lester, Cole Thompson, David Patrick Kelly, Annie Golden, Nancy Opel, Aymee Garcia, Ta'Nika Gibson, Albert Guerzon, Brooke Ishibashi, Kennedy Kanagawa, David Turner, and Alysia Velez. Rounding out the company as understudies are Delphi Borich, Felicia Curry, Jason Forbach, Alex Joseph Grayson, Cameron Johnson, Paul Kreppel, Mary Kate Moore, Diane Phelan, and Lucia Spina.
