Mean Girls Tony nominee Taylor Louderman and the Write Out Loud team—Ben Rauhala, Hannah Kloepfer, Sarah Glugatch, Josh Collopy—have teamed up for the third annual songwriting contest, a celebration of new musical theatre writers.
A team of adjudicators will select three songs to be recorded by a Broadway alum, and the tracks will be distributed on iTunes, Apple Music, and Spotify. Winners will also have their song showcased at an NYC concert along with songs from 10 finalists once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
Contest submissions will open January 15, with original songs accepted through March 1 at WriteOutLoudContest.com.
Past Write Out Loud winners include India Angel, Ethan Carlson, Matt Copley, Joriah Kwamé, Brandon Michael Lowden, Kailey Marshall, Alexander Sage Oyen, Mackenzie Szabo. Watch Louderman herself perform “Little Miss Perfect,” by 2019 winner Kwamé, below. The tune found viral success thanks to a TikTok trend and its popularity among the animatics community, particularly fans of the Disney series The Owl House.
