Two industry readings of Rob Ackerman's new play BackTalk will be presented December 12 in Manhattan at Sunlight Studios.

Directed by Jeremy Webb, who previously collaborated with playwright Ackerman on Tabletop, the cast will feature Hiram Delgado (Take Me Out), Kathy Fitzgerald (Wicked), Francis Jue (Yellow Face), Sharaé Moultrie (Girl From the North Country national tour), and David Patterson (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?).

BackTalk, a romantic comedy about first dates and second thoughts, follows a real estate developer, who starts falling for a plumber. Her inner voice has a few questions—so does his.

Mix and Match Productions will serve as general managers.

Ackerman's work also includes the 2024 movie Stargazer, the play and film Origin of the Species, and the plays Loyalty, Dropping Gumballs on Luke Wilson, Teach for America, Volleygirls, Call Me Waldo, Icarus of Ohio, and Disconnect.
