Industry News ATG Entertainment Acquires Celebrity Attractions

A preferred presenter for first-run Broadway tours, Celebrity Attractions was founded in 1983.

ATG Entertainment, which owns or operates 64 venues around the world (including the current homes of Sunset Boulevard and Cabaret on Broadway, and the upcoming The Last Five Years), has acquired touring Broadway presenter Celebrity Attractions.

Founded in 1983 by Larry and Kay Payton, Celebrity Attractions has operated in multiple markets for more than four decades through their home office in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and a satellite office in Little Rock, Arkansas. Local operations will continue in both offices and Springfield, Missouri. The acquisition will ensure that Celebrity Attractions will have the support and resources needed for continued success in touring entertainment.

Over the years, Celebrity Attractions grew to become a preferred presenter for first-run Broadway tours with strong subscription bases and community support. As a founding member of the Independent Presenters’ Network, the company has also invested in numerous Broadway productions, including Moulin Rouge: The Musical and The Outsiders.

Celebrity Attractions CEO Kristin Dotson said in a statement, “We are thrilled about our next chapter, knowing that this new relationship with ATGE will open a world of growth and possibilities. ATGE is a global industry leader that understands the value of strong relationships on a local level. The staff at Celebrity Attractions will continue our trademark customer service and community partnerships, carrying on the legacy of the Payton family with the amazing team at ATGE.”

ATG Entertainment Chief Content Officer for North America Kristin Caskey added, “Larry Payton was a pioneer in the touring industry, creating subscription series from their inception that have brought the best of Broadway to multiple cities for decades. The longevity of Celebrity Attractions is a testament to the great care and consideration Larry and the Payton family put into the business. We at ATG Entertainment feel honored and privileged to carry forward that business with Kristin Dotson and the Celebrity Attractions staff and will continue to honor the tremendous contributions of Larry and Kay.”

ATG Entertainment also owns a ticketing platform, attracting more than 40 million visitors annually.
