Chicago's Theatre Wit will host a private industry reading March 6 of new farcical show The Gala, co-conceived by Tom Mullen and Jacqueline Faris. Written by Mullen, the comedy is about the chaotic hours which lead up to fashion's big night out, the Met Gala.
Starring in the reading's cast will be Martin Zebari, Reeny Hofrichter, Robert Cornelius, Will Wilhelm, and Emily Zhang playing over 30 roles.
Set in the near future at a fictional magazine called Couture, a series of things go wrong for everyone from its new intern to its editor-in-chief. Catastrophe threatens the fashion's industry's biggest event on the calendar as it strives to illuminate the gala's theme: "Submerged Oceanic Visions from the Sea Floor."
Book & Lyrics Theatricals LLC presents the reading.
