Tony winner Duncan Sheik and Tony nominee Kyle Jarrow's Noir officially opens June 9 in its world premiere run at Houston, Texas' Alley Theatre. The new musical, which began previews June 2, is set to run through July 3.
Featured in the cast are Broadway alums Christy Altomare (Anastasia, Mamma Mia!) as Scarlet, Adam Kantor (The Band's Visit, Fiddler on the Roof) as The Neighbor, and Morgan Marcell (Hamilton, Moulin Rouge! The Musical!) as The Wife. Joining them are additional Broadway veterans David Guzman (Hamilton) as The Husband, Clifton Samuels (Follies) as The Boss, and Voltaire Wade-Greene (Hamilton) as The Goon. Sinclair Daniel plays The Kid.
Noir follows a heartbroken and reclusive man who finds comfort in his radio until his new neighbors, a couple, move into the apartment next door. The lives of the three become entangled in a dangerous way as his eavesdropping turns from entertainment to obsession, bringing the noir film genre to the stage.
Darko Tresnjak (A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder) directs the production which features choreography by Karla Puno Garcia (tick, tick...BOOM!), scenic design by Alexander Dodge (Anastasia), costume design by Linda Cho (A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder), lighting design by Philip Rosenberg, sound design by Dan Moses Schreier (West Side Story), projection design by Aaron Rhyne (Anastasia), fight direction and intimacy coordination by Adam Noble, stage management by Linda Marvel, and assistant stage management by Trey Johnson and Jordan Canon-Kruis. Vocal arrangements are by music director Jason Hart.
Sheik and Jarrow previously collaborated on Whisper House, which ran Off-Broadway earlier this year. Noir is produced by special arrangement with Hunter Arnold.
