Carmen Cusack (Bright Star) will lead a cast that also features Tony winner Faith Prince (Guys and Dolls), Chase Del Rey (King Richard), Jonah Ho'Okano (Aladdin on tour), Sarah Hunt (The Last Ship), Anthony Lee Medina (Hamilton), Alanna Saunders (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), Claire Saunders (Annie Get Your Gun), and Marco Zunino (Chicago) in an industry workshop of Bright Star songwriter Edie Brickell's new musical 38 Minutes, set for March 5 in Los Angeles. News of the upcoming workshop, which follows a 2019 reading, was reported earlier this year.
The new musical, Brickell's second after co-creating Bright Star with Steve Martin, is inspired by her experience living through a 2018 false alarm nuclear missile alert in Hawaii and follows a family whose Hawaii vacation is turned upside down by the scare.
Josh Rhodes (Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella) is directing and choreographing the project, leading a creative team that also includes music supervisor Rob Berman, creative consultant Eric Dietz, casting director Geoff Josselson, stage manager Marcedés Clanton, and assistant stage manager Lauren (Ren) Westbury. Lisa Dozier is executive producer.
