The Late Show with Stephen Colbert hosted the first-ever late night television performance of the landmark opening number.

Cast members from Broadway's The Lion King joined Stephen Colbert on The Late Show for the first-ever late night television performance of "Circle of Life" November 7. Watch the performance in the video above.

Following Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera and the Tony-winning revival of Chicago, Disney's The Lion King will become the third production in Broadway history to celebrate its 25th anniversary on the Main Stem in November 13.

The Broadway company is currently headed by Stephen Carlile as Scar, L. Stephen Taylor as Mufasa, Tshidi Manye as Rafiki, Cameron Pow as Zazu, Ben Jeffrey as Pumbaa, Fred Berman as Timon, Brandon A. McCall as Simba, and Pearl Khwezi as Nala.

The Tony-winning musical officially opened at the New Amsterdam Theatre before transferring to the Minskoff Theatre in 2006.

The Lion King features a book by Roger Allers and Irene Mecchi (adapted from the screenplay by Mecchi, Jonathan Roberts, and Linda Woolverton), music by Elton John, and lyrics by Tim Rice, with additional music and lyrics by Lebo M, Mark Mancina, Jay Rifkin, Hans Zimmer, and Taymor. Garth Fagan is choreographer.
