Liza: A Truly Terrific Absolutely True Story, a new film that spotlights Liza Minnelli's life in the 1970s, will open in New York January 24, 2025, and in Los Angeles January 31. A national roll out will follow.

The forthcoming film follows Minnelli's life following the tragic death of her iconic mother, Judy Garland. The young actress confronts a range of personal and professional challenges on the way to becoming an international superstar as well. The film illuminates her relationships with such mentors as Kay Thompson, Fred Ebb, Charles Aznavour, Halston, and Bob Fosse with insights from colleagues and friends Michael Feinstein, Mia Farrow, Ben Vereen, Joel Grey, and the late Chita Rivera.
Bruce David Klein wrote, directed, and produced Liza: A Truly Terrific Absolutely True Story. Alex Goldstein also produced along with co-producer Dana Craig.
Minnelli won Tony Awards for her performances in Flora, The Red Menace and The Act and was also Tony-nominated for her work in The Rink. She also received a Special Tony in 1974 "for adding lustre to the Broadway season." Her other Broadway credits include Liza's at the Palace…, Minnelli on Minnelli, Victor/Victoria, Chicago, and Liza.
Set in a 1947 Provincetown beach house, the play unfolds over one sultry night as Tennessee Williams and a young Marlon Brando craft A Streetcar Named Desire together.
