To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the hit film, a U.K. tour of Simon Beaufoy’s The Full Monty will launch this fall.
Produced by the Everyman Theatre Cheltenham and Buxton Opera House in association with Mark Goucher and David Pugh, performances will begin September 14 at the Everyman Theatre Cheltenham. The tour will subsequently play Opera House, Buxton; Belgrade Theatre, Coventry; Storyhouse Theatre, Chester; Grand Opera House, York; Theatre Royal, Norwich; Theatre Royal, Nottingham; Mayflower Theatre, Southampton; Alhambra Theatre, Bradford; Aylesbury Waterside Theatre; Cardiff New Theatre; and Winter Gardens, Blackpool.
Casting and additional tour dates will be announced at a later time.
Michael Gyngell will direct the play with choreography and intimacy coordination by Ian West, set and costume design by Jasmine Swann, lighting design by Andrew Exeter, and sound design by Chris Whybrow. The casting director is Marc Frankum.
The Full Monty follows Gaz and his mates, who are down on their luck and feel they have been thrown on the scrap heap. They are determined to fight back and bare a little more than they ever thought they would have to.
A musical version of the film opened on Broadway in 2000. Featuring a book by Tony winner Terrence McNally (Ragtime) and a score by Tony winner David Yazbek, the musical earned nine Tony nominations, including Best Musical.
