The debut season of the series will also star O-T Fagbenle, Gillian Anderson, Michelle Pfeiffer, and more.

Showtime dropped a first look at their upcoming anthology drama The First Lady, which stars numerous theatre faces. Stealing the attention as the former presidential power couple Michelle and Barack Obama is Tony winner Viola Davis and O-T Fagbenle (West End's Ma Rainey's Black Bottom).

The debut season of the series will also star Emmy winner Gillian Anderson as Eleanor Roosevelt and Golden Globe winner Michelle Pfeiffer as Betty Ford.

Showtime writes, "The First Lady is a revelatory reframing of American leadership, told through the lens of the women at the heart of the White House. In the East Wing of the White House, many of history’s most impactful and world-changing decisions have been hidden from view, made by America's charismatic, complex and dynamic First Ladies."

The show's first season will showcase and intertwine the lives of former first ladies Michelle Obama, Betty Ford, and Eleanor Roosevelt.

Starring in the series as Steven Ford, the son of former U.S. president Gerald Ford and Betty Ford, is Ben Cook, who previously danced across Broadway stages in productions of Tuck Everlasting, Mean Girls, and West Side Story. He also appeared in the 2021 movie adaptation of West Side Story as a Jets member Mouthpiece.

Also among the show's large supporting cast are stage favorites Leslie Rodriguez Kritzer (Beetlejuice), Regina Taylor (Drowning Crow), Lily Rabe (The Importance of Being Earnest), and Judy Greer (Dead Accounts).

While The First Lady has yet to cement a premiere date, it is expected to be released by Showtime this year.
