The two Broadway alumni, joined by band Son Lux, performed the original song from the Best Picture-nominated Everything Everywhere All At Once.

Broadway alum Stephanie Hsu and Talking Heads frontman David Byrne joined Son Lux to perform "This is a Life" from Everything Everywhere All At Once at the 95th Annual Academy Awards. See their performance above. "This Is a Life" was nominated for Best Original Song, though it lost to the song "Naatu Naatu" from the Indian film RRR.

Stephanie Hsu received a Best Supporting Actress nomination for her performance in Everything Everywhere All At Once, marking her first Oscar nomination (Jamie Lee Curtis from the same film was named the winner in the category). Most recently seen on stage in the Broadway run of Be More Chill, Hsu is a stage favorite, creating the role of Karen the Computer in SpongeBob SquarePants and appearing in numerous experimental productions throughout New York City.

David Byrne, known best for the new wave 1980's group The Talking Heads, has also contributed much to the theatre, with his recent Broadway staging of American Utopia, and his collaboration with Fatboy Slim on Here Lies Love, which is slated for a Broadway run beginning this June.
