Regional News Seattle Rep Will Stage Large-Scale Odyssey Musical as Part of 2017–18 Season The slate also includes the national tour of Stephen Karam’s Tony-winning play The Humans.

Seattle Repertory Theatre artistic director Braden Abraham has announced details of the company’s 2017–18 season, which will launch in September with a large-scale, community-based adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey.

Seattle Rep’s production of The Odyssey is based on the Public Works model established by the Public Theater in New York City. Public Works Seattle will partner with community-based organizations across the city to join professional actors in the production that is free and open to the public.

Running September 8–10, The Odyssey was originally conceived and directed by Lear deBesonnet, and features adaptation, book, and lyrics by Todd Almond. Marya Sea Kaminski will direct.

Also planned is Kate Hamil’s adaptation of Pride and Prejudice (September 29–October 29); the national tour of Stephen Karam’s Tony-winning drama The Humans (November 17–December 17); August Wilson’s Two Trains Running (January 12–February 11, 2018); the world premiere of David Grimm’s Ibsen in Chicago (February 2–March 4); Hershey Felder As Irving Berlin (February 23–March 18); the world premiere of Lauren Yee’s The Great Leap (March 23–April 22); Danai Gurira’s Familiar (April 27–May 20); and the world premiere of Erica Schmidt’s Mac Beth (May 18–June 17).
