The Obie-Winning Ice Factory Festival of new works will return to the New Ohio Theatre for its 25th anniversary edition this summer. The lineup features eight new shows, which have been guest-curated by a number of New Ohio alums, including Elevator Repair Service, the TEAM, and New Georges.
The recently extended festival will run June 27–August 18 at New Ohio Theatre, located at 154 Christopher Street, New York.
2018 Ice Factory will feature a heartfelt tragicomedy about the unfelt; a retelling of the 1969 Apollo 11 Moon Landing featuring an immersive sound and video design; an ensemble-driven comedy born verbatim from the real-life tween-teen diaries of its creators; a riff on Cat on a Hot Tin Roof; and a spectacle about Irish prostitute and Empress of Paraguay Eliza Lynch, among other offerings.
The festival will also feature a return of the late-night performance salon Fridays on Ice.

Numbness, June 27–30
A new visceral tragicomedy about the unfelt by One-Eighth Theater. Created by Artistic Directors Daniel Irizarry and Laura Butler Rivera with the One-Eighth Theater ensemble.
One Small Step, July 4–7 (Guest Curator: Elevator Repair Service)
Created by Saint Fortune and directed by Gavin Price. Saint Fortune journeys through the Sixth Dimension to travel back in time to a moment of great ambition, the 1969 Apollo 11 Moon Landing.
The Opera is Always on the Table, July 11–14 (Guest Curator: Half Straddle)
Written by Hanna Novak, directed by Tina Satter, musical direction by Zach Phillips. The Opera is Always on the Table is a response to Sophocles’ Ajax as filtered through personal family history. Told through a series of conversations and songs, the play considers the mythic and mundane elements of girlhood and family.
Madonna col Bambino, July 18–21 (Guest Curator: New Georges)
Written by Sarah Einspanier, music by Deepali Gupta, directed and developed by Caitlin Sullivan. A play about family (in many forms) with no yelling.
Dear Diary LOL, July 25–28 (Guest Curator: Pig Iron Theatre Co.)
Created by Antigravity and co-directed by Francesca Montanile Lyons and Michael T. Williams. An ensemble-driven comedic theatre work born verbatim from the real-life tween-teen diaries of the show’s actual creators.
The Hole, August 1–4 (Guest Curator: the TEAM)
Written by Zhailon Levingston and directed by Rod Gailes OBC. A riff on Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Hole explores the relationship and personal struggles of two inmates in solitary confinement. We see them grapple with love, and the choice to either choose life and grow up, or succumb to the pressures of The Hole.
Madame Lynch, August 8–11
Created by The Drunkard’s Wife, written and directed by Normandy Sherwood and Craig Flanagin. Madame Lynch is a new spectacle with music that takes its jumping-off point from the story of Eliza Lynch, an Irish prostitute, who through fate and machination became de facto Empress of Paraguay in the mid-19th century.
Love, August 15–18 (Guest Curator: Second Generation)
Written and performed by Vichet Chum and Laura Gragtmans. Two people meet, and the sky cracks open. Love is an exploration of love in its myriad of forms: the good, the bad, the ugly, the beautiful, the mysterious and all the spaces in between. With original music and spoken-word.
