Tony winner Linda Lavin will celebrate her most recent solo album, Love Notes, in a concert evening June 27 at Manhattan's Birdland Jazz Club.
Lavin will be joined on stage at the 7 PM performance by her longtime collaborator, pianist and singer Billy Stritch, who will lead a band that will also include Aaron Weinstein on violin and mandolin.
Love Notes, available from Club44 Records, is a mix of standards, jazz classics, and gems of the pop/rock era with songs by Cole Porter, Duke Ellington, Richard Rodgers, Vernon Duke, Steely Dan, and The Eagles.
Lavin won her Tony for her performance in Neil Simon's Broadway Bound and was also Tony-nominated for work in The Last of the Red Hot Lovers, The Diary of Anne Frank, The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife, Collected Stories, and The Lyons. She also won two Drama Desk Awards, two Obies, and two Golden Globes, and she was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame in 2010. Lavin spent nine seasons starring in the title role on TV’s Alice and can currently be seen on CBS in B Positive.
