Complete casting has been announced for the Menier Chocolate Factory’s U.K. premiere of The Bridges of Madison County, which will begin July 13 under the direction of Trevor Nunn. The Bridges of Madison County will officially open July 23 for a run through September 24.
As previously reported, Olivier Award winner Jenna Russell (Fun Home, Sunday in the Park With George) will star as Francesca in the musical that features a Tony-winning score by Jason Robert Brown and a book by Marsha Norman.
The cast will also feature Ed Baker-Duly (Robert), Georgia Brown (Chiara/Ginny/State Fair Singer), Maddison Bulleyment (Carolyn), Shanay Holmes (Marian), Gillian Kirkpatrick (Marge), Paul F Monaghan (Charlie), David Perkins (Michael), and Dale Rapley (Bud).
In the musical, Francesca is an Italian immigrant housewife living a happy existence on a farm in the American Midwest. When her family heads to the Iowa State Fair, she meets Robert Kincaid, a National Geographic photographer on assignment filming bridges in the area. Their initial friendship develops into a brief but passionate affair which has consequences on all of their lives.
The production will also feature sets and costumes by Jon Bausor, lighting design by Tim Lutkin, sound design by Gregory Clarke, and musical supervision and direction by Tom Murray.
