With Network celebrating a successful run on Broadway, director Ivo van Hove turns his attention to another Hollywood tale, bringing All About Eve to the London stage. Performances of the new play, based on the 1950 film, begin February 2 at the Noël Coward Theatre in the West End.
Gillian Anderson (star of Netflix's new comedy Sex Education) and Lily James (seen on screen last year in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again) star as Margo Channing and Eve Harrington, respectively—the roles made famous by Bette Davis and Anne Baxter. The cast also includes Julian Ovenden, Monica Dolan, Ian Drysdale, Tsion Habte, Jessie Mei Li, Sheila Reid, Rhashan Stone, Stanley Townsend, and Philip Voyzey.
The production will be broadcast live—thus bringing All About Eve from screen to stage to screen—around the world April 11 through National Theatre Live.
Van Hove's staging features designs by many of his frequent collaborators: sets and lighting design by Jan Versweyveld, costumes by An D'Huys, sound design by Tom Gibbons, and music by PJ Harvey. Casting is by Julia Horan, CDG.
Performances are currently scheduled through May 11, with an opening night set for February 12.
