The world premiere of David Harms' Powerhouse: A Woman Shall Rise opens October 8 at Off-Broadway's A.R.T./New York Theatres' Gural Theatre. Previews began October 6 for the Manhattan Repertory Theatre production, which has a limited run through October 30.
Laura Shoop (Flying Over Sunset) stars as Regan Van Riper in the work about a 40-something lawyer whose employer, a big-name law firm, pushes her out for an inappropriate relationship with a younger associate.
Shoop is joined in the cast by Dominck LaRuffa Jr. (Bull) as Guy, Jennifer Pierro (The Eyes of Love) as Meena Cizinski, Tony-winning producer Jana Robbins (Company, Gypsy) as Janet Shaney, and Jeorge Bennett Watson (…what the end will be) as Norris Peebles. Maya Days, Nick Jordan, Madeline Grey Defreece, Kate Levy, and Marc Webster serve as standbys.
Director Ken Wolf helms the production featuring scenic design by Jack C. Golden, costume design by Sabrinna Fabi (Cymbeline), lighting design by Yang Yu (Revolution), and compositions, sound design, and graphic design by Katherine Cartusciello (Then She Ran).
Kyra Bowie serves as production stage manager and Mary Garrigan as the assistant stage manager. Props master is Siarra Donna, costume supervisor is Alex Wolf, COVID safety manager is Jackson Cline, and intimacy director is Jamie Monohan.
