The lineup is now complete for Everybody Rise! A Sondheim Celebration, an evening celebrating the extraordinary work of the late composer-lyricist Stephen Sondheim that will be presented July 30 at California's Hollywood Bowl. Show time is 7:30 PM.
As previously reported, three-time Tony winner Patti LuPone (Evita, Gypsy, Company) will lead a company that also includes Sierra Boggess (The Phantom of the Opera, The Little Mermaid, School of Rock) and two-time Tony winner Sutton Foster (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Anything Goes, The Music Man).
Newly announced for the celebration are Tony winner Brian Stokes Mitchell (Ragtime; Kiss Me, Kate), Skylar Astin (Spring Awakening, Little Shop ofHorrors), and Norm Lewis (The Phantom of the Opera, The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess).
Longbottom and Stites said in an earlier statement, “It is the greatest honor and privilege to put together an evening of Stephen Sondheim for the world-famous Hollywood Bowl, with an incredible group of singing actors who will inhabit this material and deliver performances for the audience that will move, transport, and inspire. The task is indeed humbling, but as George (title character in Sunday in the Park with George) says: ‘White. A blank page or canvas. So many possibilities.’”
The new musical is celebrating the box office opening at the Nederlander with an offer for fans to get $20 tickets, harkening back to Rent's first-of-its-kind ticket lottery.
