They're coming into town to win the day! The Broadway revival of Parade is gearing up for its national tour and Playbill has exclusive footage of the cast performing songs from the show in rehearsal. In the video above, see Trevor James and the cast perform "The Old Red Hills of Home," and leads Talia Suskauer and Max Chernin perform "This Is Not Over Yet."
The tour of the Alfred Uhry-Jason Robert Brown musical will open at Minneapolis' Orpheum Theatre January 21. It will have preview performances in Schenectady, New York, at Proctors Theatre from January 11–17.
Chernin and Suskauer are leading the cast as Leo and Lucille Frank, respectively. Chernin takes on the role full-time after serving as an understudy during the Broadway run while also appearing in the revival's ensemble. Also back from the Broadway company will be Prentiss E. Mouton, Danielle Lee Greaves, Emily Rose DeMartino, Bailee Endebrock, Caroline Fairweather, and Sophia Manicone.
Parade tells the true story of Leo Frank, a Jewish man who was wrongfully accused and convicted of murdering a 13-year-old girl in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1913. It features a score by Brown and a book by Uhry.
This production began with a 2022 limited run at New York City Center. Much of that cast continued on with the Broadway transfer, including Ben Platt and Micaela Diamond as Leo and Lucille Frank, respectively. The revival won two 2023 Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical and Best Direction of a Musical for Arden.
Arden will be back to recreate his Tony-winning direction, working with his entire Broadway creative team, including choreographers Lauren Yalango-Grant and Christopher Cree Grant, music coordinator Kimberlee Wertz, music supervisor Tom Murray, scenic designer Dane Laffrey, costume designers Susan Hilferty and Mark Koss, lighting designer Heather Gilbert, sound designer Jon Weston, projection designer Sven Ortel, and hair and wig designer Tom Watson. Casting is by Telsey + Co's Craig Burns. New for the tour is music director Charlie Alterman.
The national tour is being produced by Seaview, Ambassador Theatre Group Productions, Erica Lynn Schwartz, Roth-Manella Productions, Oren Michels, Nelson & Tao, Eric & Marsi Gardiner, Chutzpah Productions, Robin Merrie, Julie Cohen, Marcia Goldberg, John Gore Organization, Ruth & Stephen Hendel, Runyonland Sussman, ShowTown Productions, Cynthia Stroum, Rachel Styne, Tom Tuft, David Lynch, Benjamin Simpson, Nathan Vernon, Kristin Caskey, Mike Isaacson, Bee Carrozzini, and New York City Center.
