Happy Pride! The first teaser for the new Showtime series Fellow Travelers—starring Olivier winner Jonathan Bailey (Company, Bridgerton, Cock) and Emmy nominee Matt Bomer (The Normal Heart, The Boys in the Band)—has been released and can be viewed above.
The cast of the series, which will premiere in the fall on Paramount+ with Showtime, also features Allison Williams (Get Out, Girls, Peter Pan Live), Jelani Alladin (The Walking Dead World Beyond, Frozen), Noah J. Ricketts (American Gods, To My Girls), and Linus Roache (Batman Begins, Richard II).
Based on the novel by Thomas Mallon, Fellow Travelers chronicles the four-decade, volatile romance of two men who meet in the shadow of McCarthy-era Washington: Hawkins Fuller (Bomer), who avoids emotional entanglements, and Fordham University graduate Tim Laughlin (Bailey), who is brimming with idealism and religious faith.
Alladin plays Marcus Hooks, a journalist covering the Senate beat while confronting the racism he encounters daily; Ricketts is Frankie Hines, a drag performer who works in the underground gay nightspot Cozy Corner; and Roach plays Senator Wesley Smith, a career politician and family man who is like a father to Hawk.
Created by Oscar nominee Ron Nyswaner (Philadelphia), the eight-episode series is executive-produced by Bomer and Nyswaner with Robbie Rogers and Dee Johnson. Daniel Minahan executive produces and directs the first two episodes; Fremantle co-produces with Showtime.
