The Tony nominated revival played its final Broadway performance January 28 at the James Earl Jones Theatre.

Broadway's Gutenberg! The Musical!, which closed January 28, received a Tony Award nomination for Best Revival of a Musical earlier this week. Watch Andrew Rannells and Josh Gad record "Tomorrow Is Tonight" for the revival's cast album—released May 3 from Center Stage Records and Yellow Sound Label—in the newly released music video above.

Gutenberg! began performances at the James Earl Jones Theatre September 15, 2023 and officially opened October 12.

Gad and Rannells (both Tony nominees for their work in 2011's The Book of Mormon) starred as Bud and Doug, two guys who have written a musical about Johannes Gutenberg, the inventor of the printing press. Convinced their show is ready for Broadway, they are holding a backers' performance in which they play all the parts, aided by hundreds of baseball caps adorned by character names.

Each evening, the company also included a surprise celebrity cameo (the album features Producers creator Mel Brooks). Towards the end of the show, the guest, wearing their own yellow trucker cap labeled "Producer," would enter from the audience to offer Bud and Doug a Broadway contract. Guests included stand-up comedians, Tony-winning performers, television and film stars, and even a former Secretary of State! Gad revealed how the production made that bit work every night. The musical, written be Beetlejuice Tony nominees Scott Brown and Anthony King, premiered Off-Broadway in 2006 under the direction of Alex Timbers, who returned to helm the Broadway production.

The creative team includes scenic designer Scott Pask, costume designer Emily Rebholz, lighting designer Jeff Croiter, and sound designers M.L. Dogg and Cody Spencer. Music supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations are by T.O. Sterrett, vocal supervision is by Liz Caplan, and music direction is by Marco Paguia. Casting is by C12 Casting. Rachel Sterner serves as production stage manager. Russell Daniels and Sam Hartley serve as standbys for Bud and Doug.
