Sesame Street's resident red, furry Muppet recently met with Tony-winning composer Tom Kitt at Sardi's for a little advice on how to prep for his Off-Broadway premiere in Sesame Street the Musical. Performances for the new show began September 8 at Theatre Row, ahead of its planned September 19 opening.
The show features classic songs from the television series and new tunes by Kitt, Helen Park, and Nate Edmondson, all sung by Sesame Street characters like Elmo, Cookie Monster, Abby Cadabby, Grover, Rosita, Bert, Ernie, Oscar the Grouch, The Count, and more—in their original puppet forms. Like the TV show, the stage musical also promises Broadway celebrity guest stars.

Sesame Street the Musical is written, directed, and produced by Jonathan Rockefeller, and presented by Rockefeller Productions and Sesame Workshop. It runs through November 27.
