The world premiere of Sarah Burgess' Dry Powder, helmed by Hamilton director Thomas Kail, officially opened March 22 at Off-Broadway's Public Theater. The cast features Homeland star and Golden Globe winner Claire Danes, Tony nominee Hank Azaria ( Spamalot), Sanjit De Silva (War Horse) and Emmy nominee John Krasinski ( The Office).
Set in New York City, the taut comedic drama reveals the ins and outs of running a private equity firm and what it takes to squeeze millions of dollars out of struggling companies – no matter the consequences. Previews began March 1 for an engagement scheduled to run through May 1.

“The same week his private equity firm forced massive layoffs at a national grocery chain, Rick (Azaria) threw himself an extravagant engagement party, setting off a publicity nightmare,” state production notes. “Fortunately, Seth (Krasinski), one of Rick’s partners, has a win-win deal to invest in an American-made luggage company for a song and rescue his boss from a PR disaster. But Jenny (Danes), Seth’s counterpart, has an entirely different plan: to squeeze every last penny out of the company, no matter the consequences.”
