The Shubert Organization has announced it will take part in the second Career Discovery Week to be launched by NYC Public Schools and the Partnership for New York City. The public-private initiative offers public high schoolers a day to shadow career professionals across New York City for a day to explore potential careers.
Students from the High School for Youth and Community Development at Erasmus will be welcomed by the leading organization to explore non-performance careers in theatre. Shubert will host students March 7 for interactive conversations, tours of the Majestic and Booth theatres, and meetings with current Broadway professionals.
The Majestic Theatre has been the historic home of The Phantom of the Opera which recently celebrated its 35th anniversary on Broadway. Kimberly Akimbo took up residency in the Booth Theatre last November and continues its run.

Over the course of Career Discovery Week, which will run March 6-10, more than 2,500 high school sophomores will shadow through the initiative. Among the more than 85 participating organizations are also Hearst, JPMorgan Chase & Co., NBA/WNBA, New York City Transit, Northwell Health, NYSE, PwC, The Howard Hughes Corporation, and Tishman Speyer.
The initiative is presented as part of the NYC Public Schools Student Pathways initiative which aims to provide high school students with career-oriented learning opportunities and exposure.
“Our mission at New York City Public Schools is to make sure that each student graduates on a pathway to a rewarding career and long-term economic security. Initiatives like Career Discovery Week are pointed efforts towards that goal,” said Chancellor David C. Banks in a statement.
