Broadway News The Iceman Cometh, Starring Denzel Washington, Concludes Broadway Run July 1 The George C. Wolfe-helmed production played a 14-week limited engagement, earning eight Tony Award nominations.

Broadway’s latest revival of Eugene O’Neill’s The Iceman Cometh plays its final performance at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre July 1. The production, starring Tony and Oscar winner Denzel Washington, officially opened April 26.

The George C. Wolfe-helmed limited engagement marks the fourth Broadway revival of the classic American drama, set in a dilapidated New York City bar in 1912.

In May, the production earned eight Tony Award nominations, including Best Revival of a Play, Best Direction of a Play for Wolfe, acting nods for Washington (as central salesman Hickey) and Featured Actor David Morse (who played Larry Slade), and nominations in all four technical categories for scenic designer Santo Loquasto, costume designer Ann Roth, sound designer Dan Moses Schreier, and lighting designers Peggy Eisenhauer and Jules Fisher.

The cast also includes Tammy Blanchard as Cora, Tony winners Frank Wood and Bill Irwin as Cecil Lewis and Ed Mosher, respectively, Reg Rogers as James Cameron, Colm Meaney as Harry Hope, Danny McCarthy as Rocky Pioggi, Carolyn Braver as Pearl, Austin Butler as Don Parritt, Joe Forbrich as Lieb, Nina Grollman as Margie, Thomas Michael Hammond as Moran, Neal Huff as Willie Obam, Danny Mastrogiordio as Chuck Morello, Dakin Matthews as Piet Wetjoen, Jack McGee as Pat McGloin, Clark Middleton as Hugo Kalmar, and Michael Potts as Joe Mott.
