Ogunquit Playhouse has revealed that RuPaul's Drag Race alum Latrice Royale will lend her voice to the role of Audrey II in the company's Little Shop of Horrors. The production will run August 22-September 21 at the Maine venue.
Royale competed on season four of RuPaul's Drag Race, where she earned the title of Miss Congeniality. She went on to make guest appearances in RuPaul’s Drag U, RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, and Celebrity Family Feud.
On stage, Royale played Summer Raines in the drag queen murder mystery Death Drop in the West End. Latrice has also toured worldwide, both in group shows with fellow RuPaul's Drag Race queens, and with her solo show, Life Goes On.
Little Shop of Horrors features a book and lyrics by Howard Ashman, with music by Alan Menken. Tony nominee Hunter Foster, who starred as Seymour in the musical's 2003 Broadway revival, will direct the Ogunquit production.
Ogunquit Playhouse's 2024 season also includes the world premiere of the My Best Friend's Wedding stage musical, Waitress, Crazy for You, and A Little Night Music.
