In the new year, Roundabout Theatre Company will present resident company Fiasco Theater's production of Merrily We Roll Along, directed by Fiasco Co-Artistic Director Noah Brody.
The George Furth and Stephen Sondheim musical will begin performances January 12, 2019, in Roundabout's Laura Pels Theatre in the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre Off-Broadway.
With an opening night set for February 19, Merrily We Roll Along will feature Fiasco company members Jessie Austrian (co-artistic director), Paul L. Coffey, Ben Steinfeld (co-artistic director), and Emily Young. Further casting and a full creative team will be announced at a later date.
The production will feature music direction and orchestrations by Alexander Gemignani and choreography by Lorin Latarro.

Roundabout named Fiasco its company in residence after collaborating with them on their acclaimed, paired-down production of Into the Woods in 2015. Merrily We Roll Along has been developed at the theatre through multiple workshops and readings.
Based on George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart's play of the same name, Merrily We Roll Along features a book by Furth and music and lyrics by Sondheim. The story follows the lives of three friends—composer Franklin Shepard, lyricist Charley Kringas, and writer Mary Flynn—and is told backwards. The show features such Sondheim songs as “Like It Was,” “Not a Day Goes By,” “Good Thing Going,” “Now You Know,” “Our Time,” and “Old Friends.”
