Philip Glass' Akhnaten, a modern opera, has won the 2022 Grammy award for Best Opera Recording. The award is given to the recording's conductor, Karen Kamensek; stars J’Nai Bridges, Anthony Roth Costanzo, Zachary James, and Dísella Lárusdóttir; producer David Frost; The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra; and The Metropolitan Opera Chorus.
Broadway alum James (The Addams Family, South Pacific, Coram Boy) leads the cast as Amenhotep III, father to Akhnaten.
