Shine On will both celebrate transgender and non-binary people while also creating a call to action as anti-LGBTQ+ bills are being introduced in state legislatures across the United States. According to the Human Rights Commission, nearly 350 such bills have been introduced since the beginning of the year, with 150 specifically targeting transgender people in the highest number of bills to do so in a single year.

The concert is presented as part of The Gardiner Foundation Great Hall Forum series on contemporary social issues
