London News New Queer History Musical The Show on the Roof Sets U.K. Premiere

The work by Tom Ford and Alex Syiek previously played Boise Contemporary Theater in 2022.

New queer history musical The Show on the Roof will make its U.K. premiere at London's King's Head Theatre July 11-August 16, 2025. The work features a book by Tom Ford and music and lyrics by Alex Syiek. Rory Pelsue will direct.

Based on real events, the musical is set in 1955 Boise, Idaho, where a moral panic takes hold. Events unfold at the Howdy Pardner Drive-In, where Al Travelstead tells the tale in the nightly show he stages on the building's roof.

Casting and creative team members are to be announced. Alexander Robertson of Emlex Entertainment is producing.

The U.K. bow follows a world premiere run at Boise Contemporary Theater in 2022.
