The new Hulu series features songs from co-creators Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.

What’s better than a rom-com? A musical rom-com, of course. The Oscar-winning songwriting couple Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez are giving us just that with the new Hulu series Up Here, due out on the streamer March 24.

Inspired by their 2015 stage musical of the same name, the eight-episode series (created along with Tony-winning book writer Steven Levenson and top television comedy writer-producer Danielle Sanchez-Witzel) follows an ordinary couple as they fall in love in New York City at the end of the 20th century. Mae Whitman (Good Girls) and Carlos Valdes (The Flashlend their singing voices as the lead lovers who might just have a chance if they would listen to their hearts, and not the voices in their heads.

Check out the new trailer for the series above. Look for Tony winner Katie Finneran (soon appearing on Broadway in this season's The Thanksgiving Play) and theatre vet Andréa Burns (On Your Feet!, In the Heights) in the cast, along with Sophia Hammons, Emilia Suárez, Scott Porter, and John Hodgman.

Tony-winning Hamilton director Thomas Kail helms the project. Anderson-Lopez and Lopez have previously collaborated on both the film and Broadway musical Frozen and the animated film Coco. Her other Broadway credits include In Transit, and his, The Book of Mormon and Avenue Q.
