The Dramatists Guild Foundation has revealed its 2024-2025 class of fellows. The year-long intensive program assists New York City-based emerging dramatists in developing existing works.
The new class of Playwriting fellows includes Jen Diamond, Matthew Jellison, Yilong Liu, Ro Reddick, and Phillip Christian Smith; and the class of Musical Theater Writing fellows includes Arianna Afsar, Emma Ashford, Sophie Boyce, Fouad Dakwar, Jaime Lozano, and Veronica Mansour.
Fellows receive a $5,000 stipend, access to career resources, an industry mentor, and the opportunity to partner with several arts organizations. At the end of the program, each fellow will have an opportunity to participate in a presentation of their work for industry professionals.
The program also welcomes a new group of Chairs this year: Anne Washburn and Migdalia Cruz will serve as Playwriting Chairs, while Rona Siddiqui and Itamar Moses will serve as Musical Theater Chairs.
The DGF Fellows program was founded in 2000 by Lynn Ahrens, Stephen Flaherty, Janet Neipris, and Susan Miller, with leadership from Michael Korie over the past decade.
Notable alumni include Pulitzer Prize winner Michael R. Jackson (A Strange Loop), Antoinette Nwandu (Pass Over), Lauren Yee (Cambodian Rock Band), Academy Award winner Kristen Anderson-Lopez (Frozen), Pulitzer Prize finalist Rajiv Joseph (Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo), and Tony winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Dear Evan Hansen).
