Six-time Olivier nominee Juliet Stevenson will make her much-anticipated return to the New York Stage this summer in Robert Icke's play The Doctor.

The production, which will run for 12 weeks at the Park Avenue Armory starting June 3, marks Stevenson's return to her award winning performance as Dr. Ruth Wolff, a controversial medical leader whose decisions ignite public debate. Written and directed by Icke, The Doctor will run though August 19. The thriller, which premiered at London's Almeida Theatre, is a loose adaptation of Arthur Schnitzler's Professor Bernhardi, The Doctor.

Said Pierre Audi, the artistic director of the Armory: “Stevenson’s revelatory performance is shockingly relevant in a time when public debate often devolves into bedlam. The Doctor uses the medium of theater at its utmost capacity to insight dialogue and argument, drawing audiences into an enthralling moral dilemma sparked by the collision of race, religion, science, and gender identity.”

Stevenson's return to New York comes after a 20-year absence. In the interim, she has starred on film in Diana, The Letters, and London Unplugged; featured on television in The Village, Atlantic, and The Long Call; and trod the West End boards in The Seagull, Hamlet, and Mary Stuart.

Additional casting and creative team information will be announced at a later date.
