The Tony-nominated playwright is up for a Best Screenplay Independent Spirit Award for Zola.

Harris, whose Tony-nominated Slave Play just completed its second run on Broadway, co-wrote the screenplay for the film Zola with director Janicza BravoBased on a 2015 Twitter thread by Aziah Wells (Zola) chronicling her wild trip to Florida with an exotic dancer, the film is nominated for seven Independent Spirit Awards, including Best Screenplay.

As an actor, Harris can be seen on the current season of Emily in Paris on Netflix, and as himself on HBO Max's Gossip Girl reboot. Zola is available on demand and on Showtime.
