Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (LCPA) has announced the appointment of costume designer and producer Clint Ramos as Artist-in-Residence for a two-year term.
During his residency, Ramos' initiatives will include leading curation of the 2026 edition of LCPA's American Songbook series, developing a new public art and theatre piece to premiere this fall, designing costumes for The Metropolitan Opera's 2026 production of Richard Wagner's Tristan und Isolde, continuing to act as visual director for the Summer in the City festival (as he has since 2022), collaborating with the Library for the Performing Arts to develop the Springboard for Design high school mentorship program, hosting Create-a-thon artistic exploration events, and more.
“I am honored and thrilled to be named an artist-in-residence at Lincoln Center, a place I have long considered one of my creative homes," Ramos said in a statement. "This opportunity allows me to further my work in uniting our global community of multidisciplinary artists, fostering collaboration, and creating transformative projects. I am deeply grateful for the support and the space to cultivate ideas that bring us closer together through art."
“An important part of our role here at Lincoln Center is bringing artists of all kinds into our everyday and supporting what they need to create some of the great artworks of today and tomorrow,” added Shanta Thake, Ehrenkranz Chief Artistic Officer of LCPA. “Clint is a true visionary. Whether its work with our friends at The Metropolitan Opera, New York City Center, on Broadway, or in films, Clint’s creative work defies convention and definition. We are proud to invest in his work, catalyze new collaborations, and welcome him more fully home here at Lincoln Center.”
Ramos has designed over 200 theatre, opera, and dance productions. His recent designs for the stage include Broadway's Maybe Happy Ending, Eureka Day, Here Lies Love (for which he also served as lead producer), KPOP, Slave Play, Once on This Island, and Eclipsed (which earned him a Tony Award for Best Costume Design of a Play in 2016). Additional accolades include two Obie Awards, three Lucille Lortel Awards, and the Ani ng Dangal Presidential Medal for dramatic arts from the President of the Philippines, where he was born and raised.
Ramos is also currently a producing creative director for Encores! at New York City Center, a co-founder of Design Action, and a member of the American Theatre Wing's Advisory Board.
