The Stephen Sondheim-James Lapine musical is led by Joaquina Kalukango, Stephanie J. Block, and Sebastian Arcelus.

Broadway's multi-extended revival of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Into the Woods finishes its run at the St. James Theatre January 8. The production began as a two-week run at New York City Center Encores, then transferred to Broadway for a July 10 opening. Success at the box office led to multiple extensions; the production was originally announced to close August 21, 2022. Watch current Witch and 2022 Tony winner Joaquina Kalukango sing "Last Midnight" above.

The closing cast is led by real-life spouses Sebastian Arcelus and Stephanie J. Block as the Baker and his Wife, respectively, along with Kalukango as The Witch, Diane Phelan as Cinderella, Gavin Creel as The Wolf/Cinderella's Prince, Joshua Henry as Rapunzel's Prince, Cole Thompson as Jack, Katy Geraghty as Little Red Ridinghood, David Patrick Kelly as The Narrator, Nancy Opel as Cinderella’s Stepmother, Ann Harada as Jack’s Mother, Ta'Nika Gibson as Lucinda, Brooke Ishibashi as Florinda, Kennedy Kanagawa as Milky White, Jim Stanek as the Steward, and Alysia Velez as Rapunzel. Annie Golden, Albert Guerzon, Delphi Borich, Felicia Curry, Jason Forbach, Alex Joseph Grayson, Cameron Johnson, Paul Kreppel, Mary Kate Moore, Sam Simahk, and Lucia Spina round out the ensemble.

Several Broadway pros and Tony winners have cycled through the cast in its six-month run, including Sara Bareilles, Brian d'Arcy James, Andy Karl, Phillipa Soo, Denée Benton, and Patina Miller.

Lear deBessonet directs the musical, with music supervision by Rob Berman and choreography by Lorin Latarro. The creative team includes set designer David Rockwell, costume designer Andrea Hood, lighting designer Tyler Micoleau, sound designers Scott Lehrer and Alex Neumann, puppet designer James Ortiz, and hair, wig, and makeup designer Cookie Jordan. Casting is by Telsey & Co. with production supervision by Cody Renard Richard.

Following its conclusion on Broadway, the revival will play several limited engagements across the U.S. with much of the current Broadway cast continuing with the production.

With a book by James Lapine and a score by Stephen Sondheim, Into the Woods combines the fairy-tale stories of Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel, and more, ultimately going beyond "ever after" to explore what happens next. Boasting a score that includes such favorites as "Children Will Listen," "No One Is Alone," and its title song, the musical has become one of Sondheim's most beloved and frequently performed works both on professional stages and at schools and community theatres worldwide.

Into the Woods is produced by Jujamcyn Theaters, Jordan Roth, New York City Center, Daryl Roth, Hunter Arnold, Concord Theatricals, Nicole Eisenberg, Jessica R. Jenen, Michael Cassel Group, Kevin Ryan, Showtown Productions, and Armstrong, Gold & Ross, with Nicole Kastrinos serving as executive producer.
