The 92Y’s Lyrics & Lyricists concert series will continue with Yes I Can: The Sammy Davis Jr. Songbook February 23–25, featuring Harriett D. Foy (Amazing Grace), Jared Grimes (After Midnight ), Max Kumangai (Waitress), Matthew Saldivar (Bernhardt/Hamlet), and Betsy Wolfe (Falsettos).
Under the artistic direction of Laurence Maslon, Yes I Can journeys through Davis’ career, including Broadway’s Golden Boy, highlighting such songs as “The Birth of the Blues,” “What Kind of Fool Am I?,” “Mr. Bojangles,” and “I’ve Gotta Be Me.”
The concerts coincide with the February 19 premiere of the PBS American Masters documentary Sammy Davis, Jr.: I’ve Gotta Be Me, written and co-produced by Maslon.
Performances will take place February 23 at 8 PM, February 24 at 2 PM and 7 PM, and February 25 at 2 PM and 7:30 PM.
