The Tony-winning musical Hadestown plays its 918th performance January 4 at the Walter Kerr Theatre, becoming the longest-running show in the 100-year history of the Broadway venue. The production surpasses the previous record holder, David Auburn's Tony-winning Proof.

Hadestown began previews at the Kerr March 22, 2019, officially opening April 17. The production was the most honored show of that season, winning Best Musical from the Tony Awards, the Outer Critics Circle Awards, and the Drama League Awards. The show also won the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album.

The Broadway company is currently led by Jewelle Blackman as Persephone, Grammy winner Reeve Carney as Orpheus, Tony nominee Tom Hewitt as Hades, two-time Tony nominee Eva Noblezada as Eurydice, and Tony winner Lillias White as Hermes.

They are joined by Amelia Cormack, Shea Renne, and Soara-Joye Ross as the Fates. The chorus of Workers is played by Emily Afton, Malcolm Armwood, Alex Puette, Trent Saunders, and Grace Yoo. The cast includes swings Brandon Cameron, Tara Jackson, Max Kumangai, and Yael “YaYa” Reich.

Singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell’s folk- and jazz-infused musical layers the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice with that of Hades and Persephone, intertwining the actions—and consequences—of gods and mortals. Hadestown originally began as a theatrical concert performed by Mitchell.

The creative team features Tony-winning director Rachel Chavkin, Tony-winning set designer Rachel Hauck, Tony-nominated costume designer Michael Krass, Tony-winning lighting designer Bradley King, Tony-winning sound designers Nevin Steinberg and Jessica Paz, choreographer David Neumann, and dramaturg Ken Cerniglia. Musical supervision and vocal arrangements are by Liam Robinson, with arrangements and orchestrations by Tony winners Michael Chorney and Todd Sickafoose.

The North American tour is currently playing West Palm Beach’s Kravis Center through January 8 before continuing to Atlanta’s Fox Theatre, where it will start performances January 10.
