According to a report from Deadline, Amazon Studios has given a two-season order to Étoile, a new series by Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, creators of the Emmy-winning The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

The series, which "follows the dancers and artistic staff of two world-renowned ballet companies, as they embark on an ambitious gambit to save their storied institutions by swapping their most talented stars," will reunite the Mrs. Maisel creators with Luke Kirby and Gideon Glick, who will star alongside Camille Cottin, Simon Callow, Lou de Laâge and David Alvarez. Callow, Glick and Alvarez are Broadway alumni, with Glick having been nominated for a Tony for his performance in To Kill A Mockingbird, and Alvarez being one of the original Tony-winning stars of Billy Elliot. On screen, Alvarez played Bernardo in Steven Spielberg's West Side Story.

This is not Amy Sherman-Palladino's first series themed around ballet. Her ABC Family series Bunheads, which ran from 2012-2013, starred Tony winner Sutton Foster as a former ballerina. Choreographer Marguerite Derricks (A Class Act, Wonderland) worked on both Bunheads and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and, per Deadline, is expected to be involved with Étoile as well.

The news of the new series comes as The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel concludes its fifth and final season, while its star, Rachel Brosnahan, stars in The Sign in Sidney Brustein's Window on Broadway, alongside Oscar Isaac.
